“I guess I’m just your average dream big type kid with a millionaire mentality and a reason to get ahead in life.”
About Me - I’m a 20 year old student studying web design at the University of Connecticut. This is sort of a learning project for me, but you have to start somewhere right? I dream big and think even bigger, and eventually I’d like to invest in real estate. But its hard to get a start in life without any credit or any money, and while investing the $500 I earned over the summer into the next big thing certainly sounds tempting, I don’t quite think it would get the desired effect.
About The Idea - We’ve all heard of the kid who made a million dollars selling a million pixels for a dollar a piece. And again of the guy who made a series of trades starting with a little red paperclip and ending up with a house, a key to the city, and a red paperclip day named after him. Society seems to encourage people who chase their dreams, so when I had the idea for MillionDollarBlogger, I knew I should give it a shot.
Will it work? - If what they say is true, and the future does reflect the past, then it should work. I’ve found the following facts at Technorati. In 2007, there were:
- 70 million weblogs
- About 120,000 new weblogs each day, or…
- 1.4 new blogs every second
- 1.5 million posts per day, or…
- 17 posts per second
- Growing from 35 to 75 million blogs took 320 days
Bloggings popularity has more than doubled in less than the last year. If it continues to grow by the same rate, there will be over 110 million blogs by the end of 2008. If 1/110th of all bloggers posts once, I should reach my goal. Communities bring possibilities, and I hope that, in the process, I will be able to give back as well!
